Traveling to Denver? Live here? These are my top gluten free meals / restaurants in the Denver metro area.

Note: only one spot is dedicated gluten free so be sure to check with wait staff or call ahead of time pending your sensitivity.

I love going out to eat and trying new places.  I’ve been gluten free for over 7 years at this point, and the Denver food scene for gluten free dining continues to get better and better.  This guide is my go to, favorite places you need to check out when you’re in Denver.

Breakfast / Brunch

  • Rivers and Roads Coffee – this place is incredible.  The entire restaurant is gluten free so celiac friendly.  They change their pastry menu daily.  Get the doughnut holes, it’s just a must! Their breakfast is truly outstanding and hard to pass up.  Also if you have the option, the take and bake cinnamon rolls are chefs kiss!
  • Onefold – you genuinely can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.  I’m partial to the breakfast tacos, fresh squeezed orange juice, and a coffee.  Their duck fat potatoes are also incredible if you have someone to share with.  We prefer the Union Station location as there’s more seating and typically you won’t run into a wait, especially if you go before 9:30 AM on weekends.

Lunch

  • Esters – the best gluten free pizza in Denver.  You have to try the Bliss.  I know potatoes on pizza… it sounds weird.  But it just works! If it’s too out there for you, any of the pizzas on the gluten free crust are amazing.
  • Mister Oso – another staple where it’s tough to order wrong.  We like to go for lunch or during happy hour.  The margaritas are great and pair deliciously with the Birria tacos. There’s two locations and we prefer RiNo to Wash Park.
  • Quiero Arepas – unfortunately a number of their locations have closed but the OG in Avanti is still around.  Their arepas are delicious, made with high quality ingredients.  Personally these are huge and can serve as a meal and a leftover meal, or one heavy meal for my day.  I highly recommend for something a little different.
  • Machete – we’re just taco people, so you’re going to see a trend! Machete makes some of our favorite tacos in Denver and has three locations making it likely convenient to where you’re staying.  I personally love the De La Milpa.  It’s unique and always cooked to perfection.  My husband swears by the Al Pastor.  Their margaritas are not our favorite in Denver however.

Dinner

  • Potager – a great farm to table restaurant that feels like a cozy neighborhood hang out.  The menu changes seasonally and their pairings never disappoint.  Another spot where you can’t go wrong with the menu – the chicken, fish, beef – is all cooked well and has the best flavor profiles.
  • Uchi – originally from Austin, Uchi is the best sushi in Denver in my opinion.  If you go right when they open, there’s typically a line to get in but we’ve never had an issue getting a spot at the bar if we’re there 10 – 15 minutes before opening.  Otherwise make a reservation.
  • Wildflower – Some of the finer dining places in Denver have missed the mark – but this is not one of them! The perfect date night or special occasion spot, this place has a great ambiance.  While it is spendy, the prices reflect the quality of the food and service. The staff is well versed in the menu, making wonderful pairing suggestions and advising on the right amount of food for your party.

Let me know if you try any of these and what you had to eat.  It’s hard to stray from my favorites but would love to know what I need to add to my list.
